Torus (Supporting The Virginmarys) Live at The Bodega, Nottingham
November 4
A cover of Britney’s ‘Toxic’ (with a doomy outro no less), a drummer putting in such a shift that clothes become a hindrance - and these are not even the most memorable parts of the set? Well played lads. Literally! Tight rock trio Torus have a 90’s vibe, post-apocalyptic metal groove and tunes with enough ooooohhhhs and aaaaaahhhhs for crowd participation – which they absolutely get from the packed Bodega tonight. Opening with ‘Avalanche’, the boys have a sound and a stage presence that makes you want to take a step forwards to embrace the catchy songs which combine power with substance. ‘When It Comes’ and ‘The Overload’ instantly charm the crowd. Torus have a mature sound, fronted by Alfie Glass’ sweet, yet jagged and edgy vocals, which even become a little haunted on enthusiastically played – and received - ‘This Feeling’. Tonight’s support slot is in safe hands with these boys, and it feels fair to say a lot of the crowd here tonight will be streaming them on their journey home.
